Honeypot Cottage - Attractions
There are many attractions in the Teesdale and Upper Teedale area and the wider region, but a few of the more local include;
HighForce Waterfall and Picnic Area
The largest waterfall in England.
Cauldron Snout Cascade
A 60 metre / 200 foot cascade down dolerite steps with surrounding plant species that have survived since the last ice age.
Bowlees Visitor Centre and Picnic Area
Situated in an old chapel where you can find out about wildlife and the landscape of Teesdale. There is also a nature trail.
Barnard Castle and The Bowes Museum
In this historic market town you can visit the internationally-famous Bowes Museum with its wealth and variety of treasures.
Gibsons Cave
This is primarily a waterfall, Summerhill Force, but the undercutting has been so severe that it resembles a cave. Well worth a visit.
However, there are many more attractions within a short distance, including Bernard's Castle, Bowes Castle, Brough Castle, Raby Castle, the Killhope Lead Mining Centre, Nenthead Leadmine, Parkers' Kilns, Hartside Viewpoint, South Tynedale Railway, the Otter Trust, the Dales Centre, Hamsterley Forest....plus a range of activities too.
